Created by Ben Vanstone from the namesake 2016 book Amor Towles, A Gentleman in Moscow is a period drama series. The plot revolves around Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov, the eponymous member of the Russian nobility. Upon his return to Moscow, the Bolsheviks arrest him and force him to spend several decades of his life imprisoned in an attic hotel room. Season 1, comprising eight episodes, premiered on Showtime, Paramount Plus, and SkyShowtime on March 29, 2024. Interested in knowing whether there will be a Season 2 of A Gentleman in Moscow, we got you covered.
Here’s all we know about A Gentleman in Moscow Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there A Gentleman in Moscow Season 2 release date?
There is no A Gentleman in Moscow Season 2 release date as the show was reportedly created as a miniseries.
As of early April 2024, Showtime and Paramount Plus have not renewed A Gentleman in Moscow for the sophomore season. This makes sense as several outlets list the show as a miniseries. So, the story will likely conclude in the eighth episode, and Season 2 probably will not happen. Moreover, Amor Towles’ original book doesn’t have any sequel, and that effectively decreases the chances for Season 2. Unless Towles pens another book set in A Gentleman in Moscow universe, or the scriptwriters come up with a new story, the series might end after Season 1.
The cast of A Gentleman in Moscow includes Ewan McGregor as Count Alexander Rostov, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Anna Urbanova, Fehinti Balogun as Mishka, and Johnny Harris as Osip Glebnikov.
Why A Gentleman in Moscow Season 2 might not be happening
A Gentleman in Moscow Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, Ben Vanstone reportedly developed the show as a miniseries. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change, and Showtime and Paramount Plus greenlight another season.
The official synopsis for A Gentleman in Moscow reads:
“Count Alexander Rostov finds himself going from riches to rags following the Russian revolution. A Soviet tribunal banishes him to the attic room of an opulent hotel, where, oblivious to the world outside, he discovers the true value of friendship, family and love.”
