Here’s the Halo Season 2 Episode 6 ending explained featuring spoilers and a recap of what happened. Dive into our breakdown and find out what happened to Kessler, among other things.
What Happened at the end of Halo Season 2 Episode 6?
The ending of episode 6 saw the Master Chief making his way to the artifact and possibly reuniting with Makee through the Halo.
In episode 6, titled Onyx, John arrives at the titular ONI planet. He came to have Admiral Margaret Parangosky and Col. James Ackerson answer for their crimes of letting Reach burn. While fighting his way through, he came across his Spartan comrade, Kai-125, who was ordered to take him in or take him down for good.
John didn’t fight back, and pleaded with her to see what was right. He revealed the truth about how ONI left him and the humans on Reach to die at the hands of the Covenant. Kai-125 left him beaten and weakened and went back to confront Ackerson. While she found out the truth, John was able to reunite with Cortana, who had managed to reconnect with ONI on Onyx.
She smooth-talked Parangosky to update her on The Covenant’s location and defenses. Simultaneously, she also helped John reach the smaller artifact by taking control of ONI’s security system. As he moved towards the artifact, it and the bigger one in front of Makee started to glow. Makee also crawled towards it. As soon as both of them touched it, the episode ended.
So, the next episode will likely see John and Makee united through the Halo. It could showcase Makee getting her connection to the artifact back through John. Most importantly, it might reveal how Makee survived at the end of Season 1.
Why did the UNSC take Kessler?
The UNSC took Kessler to possibly train him in the Spartan program.
Along with John, Soren and Laera also arrived on Onyx in search of Kessler. Episode 5 revealed that he had been taken by the UNSC. So, the two infiltrate their base but don’t find a lot of clues pointing them towards him.
Many people have been left asking why exactly did the UNSC take Kessler from Aleria. Well, the answer lies in his genes. He is the son of Soren, who is also an enhanced individual due to being a former Spartan. So, it’s likely that the UNSC wants to train Kessler in the Spartan program as well.
