Due to the recent rumors, many Wonder Woman fans want to know if James Gunn has cast Elizabeth Debicki as the new Diana Prince after Gal Gadot. Here’s all you need to know about Wonder Woman’s potential replacement.
Is Elizabeth Debicki replacing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman?
Elizabeth Debicki has not been cast as Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman replacement.
The rumor started from the Instagram page “dccommunityofbengal” and stated that Gunn is looking to cast Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 actor Elizabeth Debicki as the new Wonder Woman. Since Gunn is known for working with actors he has worked with in the past, some presumed this rumor to be true. However, it has been debunked by the co-president of DC Studios.
When asked about the rumor, James Gunn replied:
“This is coming from a site that’s just making up a bunch of stuff (I love working with Elizabeth but I’ve never even had this thought).”
Needless to say, she hasn’t been cast as Wonder Woman. Considering that the first Wonder Woman-related project, Paradise Lost, is still far away, it’ll be a while before we know who will play the character in Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.
Actresses who could play Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DCU
Apart from the possibility of Gal Gadot reprising her role or Elizabeth Debicki replacing her, Wonder Woman could be played by others including Eiza González, Alexandra Daddario, Ana de Armas, Jodie Comer, and more.
Gal Gadot has campaigned for Wonder Woman 3, but it hasn’t been greenlit yet. Whether she reprises her role in the rebooted DCU remains to be seen. If she doesn’t, the following list shows actresses who have the potential to play and carry the Wonder Woman mantle instead:
- Eiza González
- Alexandra Daddario
- Ana de Armas
- Jodie Comer
- Conor Leslie
- Samara Weaving
Among them, Eiza González recently commented on James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy cast post. It got fans excited about her potential casting as Wonder Woman. Alexandra Daddario could also be a great choice. After all, she has been fan-cast for the role several times over the years.
Ana de Armas continues to take on action movie roles but has yet to star in a superhero movie. So, she could also be a potential choice for Wonder Woman. The same goes for Jodie Comer and Samara Weaving. Lastly, Conor Leslie, who played Donna Troy in DC’s Titans, could also work as Wonder Woman in Gunn’s DCU.
It’ll be interesting to see if Elizabeth Debicki or any of the other aforementioned actresses get cast as Wonder Woman. Comingsoon will provide updates on the story as soon as they arrive.
