The Hazbin Hotel controversy revolves around the recasting of the original voice cast members featured in the pilot with new cast members.
The pilot episode, titled “That’s Entertainment”, was released in October 2019 on YouTube and became a viral hit. It was soon after picked up by A24 and later Amazon Studios. Following Amazon Studios’ acquisition, the original cast of the series consisting of Jill Harris, Michael Kodachrome, Monica Franco, Edward Basco, and Mick Lauer who played Charlie Morningstar, Angel Dust, Vaggie, Alastor, and Husk were replaced by new voice actors.
This led to many fans expressing their disapproval online, with them claiming that the magic touch delivered by the original voicecast in the YouTube pilot was missing.
Why were the Hazbin Hotel voice actors replaced?
The official reason for the replacement of the original Hazbin Hotel voice actors is unknown.
