Reports have hit the web saying that Ryan Gosling is in talks to play the Marvel Comics superhero Richard Rider, aka Nova, in the MCU. So fans are curious if the reports are true, and some are also curious about the character’s powers. Here is everything you need to know.
Is Ryan Gosling playing Nova in the MCU?
Ryan Gosling has not been confirmed to be playing Nova in the MCU as of publishing.
However, according to reputed but semi-reliable industry insider Daniel RPK, Ryan Gosling has reportedly met with Kevin Feige about joining the MCU for a possible role, and one of the roles that came up in the discussion was Nova (Richard Rider). However, fans must take this scoop with a grain of salt and await official confirmation from Marvel.
This development is surprising as Ryan Gosling had previously debunked rumors that he would play Nova at one point, as revealed by MTV’s Josh Horowitz in 2022 when he interviewed Ryan Gosling for the movie The Gray Man. Horowitz later added that Gosling personally told him he wanted to take on Ghost Rider.
Nova is not the only role Gosling has been associated with as the Canadian actor has also been linked to Sentry as well as Ghost Rider.
What are Nova’s powers and abilities?
As a member of the Nova Corps, Nova has access to the Nova Force that grants him powers such as superhuman strength, speed, and durability, and also powers of flight.
Nova is also capable of energy absorption and redirection as he can absorb energy directed at him and release it via gravimetric pulses and beams from specific parts of his body or his entire body. He is also a skilled fighter, as he has been trained by New Warriors superhero Chord.
