When women started getting murdered in the same style as the Ripper again, the H Division was put into motion. Previously, the H Division had tried multiple times to catch the Ripper but they escaped every time. Two detectives – Sergeant Bennet Drake and Inspector Edmund Reid are joined by a former US Army surgeon and Captain Homer Jackson to investigate the murders and find the Ripper. Jackson becomes close to one of the brothel girls Rose, and the relationship between the police officers and the brothel Madam Long Susan becomes rough.
Captain Homer Jackson and Detective Inspector Edmund Reid are portrayed by Adam Rothenberg and Matthew Macfadyen respectively. While Jerome Flynn portrays Bennet Drake, MyAnna Buring is played by Long Susan. Other cast members joining the series are Charlene McKenna, David Wilmot, Amanda Hale, David Dawson, Clive Russell, Gillian Saker, and Lucy Cohu.
