Yes, Maya died at the end of Fool Me Once. She was fatally shot by Neil Burkett during a confrontation between Maya and the Burkett family at the latter’s home.
Throughout the series, Maya Stern goes on a revenge spree against her husband Joe, and his family, The Burketts, for the harm caused by their shady pharmaceutical company and the former’s role in her sister Claire’s demise. After killing Joe, she then attempts to expose the Burketts and their evil nature to the whole world.
Maya faced challenges along the way, such as her mother-in-law Judith Burkett’s manipulation and mind games, with the latter even tricking Maya into believing that Joe was still alive via altered nanny cam footage for a time.
Maya then makes a deal with Sami Kierce to help him expose the Burkett family’s corruption. She then arrives at the Burkett house to confront the family with the knowledge that she will not make it but not before having a nanny cam installed to record footage of the whole confrontation. Maya tricks Judith into spilling the truth about their company before being killed by Neil.
However, her death was not in vain as she finally managed to expose the Burkett family’s crimes to the world, this then led to the arrests of Judy, Neil, and Caroline. Before her death, Maya had left a note for her daughter Lily, which stated that she would be at peace.
