Percy Jackson and the Olympians has brought numerous fan-favorite characters to life already, including Grover. But who is he and what is his age in the series and in the books? Here’s all you need to know about Grover.
How Old is Grover in Percy Jackson and the Olympians?
In the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, Grover is 24 years old and poses as a 12-year-old. But in the books, he was 32, posing as a 16-year-old.
Played by 17-year-old actor Aryan Simhadri, Grover Underwood starts as the best and only friend of Percy Jackson. But he reveals himself to be a Satyr, a half-human and half-goat from the green mythology. He also revealed that it was his duty to guide Percy to the moment he realized that he was a demigod.
But as far as his age is concerned, it is revealed to be different from the books. For those unaware, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is adapted from Rick Riordan’s fantasy novel series, with the first season being based on 2005’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
In the books, Grover is revealed to be 32 years old but looks like a 16-year-old human because a Satyr’s aging speed is half as quick compared to humans. However, the live-action series chose to turn him into a 24-year-old, so that he could fit into a 12-year-old Percy Jackson’s class and guide him on his emotional journey.
Another important fact about his friendship with Percy is that they two share an empathy link. If one of them dies, the other might also end up perishing or in a state of suspended animation. Whether this link is used in the live-action series remains to be seen.
