Released in 2009, Orphan was a psychological horror film that was reportedly inspired by the real-life 2007 media coverage of the incident involving a Czech woman named Barbora Skrlova. Its success led to the development of the prequel, Orphan: First Kill, which premiered in the US on August 19, 2022. If you are wondering when Orphan 3 is coming out, this is what we have discovered.
Here’s all the Orphan 3 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there an Orphan 3 release date?
Orphan 3 could arrive by late 2025.
Since the premiere of the second Orphan film, there have been talks about a potential third entry in the series. William Brent Bell, who took over the directorial duties from Jaume Collet-Serra after the first film, while speaking to the Hollywood Reporter in December 2023, revealed that Orphan 3 was in active development.
“We’re developing a third one now,” the filmmaker said. “When I saw the writer [David Coggeshall] at a screening of Lord of Misrule a few weeks ago, we talked about his new movie, The Family Plan, and he said, ‘I just want to write Orphan movies because there’s such a freedom. You get to kind of do anything.’ And now that we’ve gone another direction with the second one, the franchise’s rulebook has been opened up to where anything is possible.”
Bell also stated in another August 2022 interview that the third film would be even darker than the first two before adding that there could potentially be several sequels. Orphan: First Kill began production in November 2020. Given that it came out in the US theaters in August 2022, it can be speculated that if filming begins for Orphan 3 in early 2024, it can come out in late 2025.
This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.
Not much is known about either the plot or the cast of Orphan 3, though Bell did mention that Isabelle Fuhrman, who portrays Esther / Leena in the previous films, is set to reprise her role.
