Who is Kusakabe in Jujutsu Kaisen and what’s his Cursed Technique? Atsuya Kusakabe is a character who pops in here and there throughout the story. Here is a guide on Kusakabe from Jujutsu Kaisen.
Who is Kusakabe in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Atsuya Kusakabe is a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer and teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High. He teaches the second-year students. We first see him in the second season, during the Shibuya Incident arc. For those who have seen Jujutsu Kaisen 0, he was in the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.
How strong is Atsuya Kusakabe?
Since Kusakabe is a grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer, he possesses enough skill to be a well-respected jujutsu sorcerer. He is a master swordsman and he also mastered the New Shadow Style. According to Mei Mei, Kusakabe is the only jujutsu sorcerer to reach a rank of grade 1 without having an innate technique.
Kusakabe knows his limitations. He’s aware that he’s not capable of defeating a special grade curse and he will avoid those as much as possible. But he knows that he can defeat other enemies like curse users, who he deems that are below his level. An example would be the curse users Manami Suda and Toshihisa Negi, who were in Suguru Geto’s group of sorcerers.
Kusakabe possesses a great amount of cursed energy. Since he mastered the New Shadow Style, he’s skilled in controlling his cursed energy. He can easily cast Simple Domain and is capable of covering his katana’s blade with cursed energy.
Kusakabe also has a good sense of gauging an opponent’s strength level. He can instantly recognize who’s on his level and who would be stronger. Since Kusakabe’s sword is consistently imbued with cursed energy, it can be compared to a cursed tool.
What is Kusakabe’s Cursed Technique?
Kusakabe doesn’t have an innate Cursed Technique. This is why he mastered the New Shadow Style so he can compensate for not having an innate technique. His Barrier Techniques are Batto Sword Drawing, which is the fastest sword drawing technique in the New Shadow Style, and Evening Moon Sword Drawing. It has a different stance from Batto Sword Drawing but we don’t know what it does yet.
