With Wonka about to hit theaters, fans of the character are curious to find out if it could be a box office success and what the initial projections around it are. Here’s all you need to know about Wonka’s early box office predictions, and whether it’s lining up for a successful run or likely to be a flop.
What is the Wonka Box Office gross prediction?
and
Wonka is tracking to open between $35 million and $40 million at the domestic box office.
The long-range predictions per Box Office Pro stood at $25 million to $35 million. But according to Deadline, the pre-ticket sales have reportedly jumped the number up to 35-$45 million for its domestic opening.
As for its total domestic run, Wonka’s predicted range is between $125 million and $210 million. But how much money it will make would ultimately depend on its opening weekend performance.
Is Wonka expected to flop or succeed?
Considering its box office predictions and a reported production budget of $125 million, Wonka could turn out to be a profitable release, or at least break even.
There’s no denying that Wonka has an uphill battle ahead due to its competition with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the total spending on the film could be close to $200 million (if not more) after including the marketing budget.
So, keeping the cut of theater chains in mind, Wonka needs to make somewhere between $350-400 million to be profitable. The film can do that if it lands on the high end of its box office predictions. Furthermore, the movie will also make additional money when it hits digital.
But, it’s also possible for the film to flop if the second weekend faces a huge drop, or if the overseas market doesn’t show up for it at all.
