With Good Burger 2 approaching its release, people looking forward to it are wondering where they could watch it. Will it be released in theaters or go straight to a streaming platform? Here’s all you need to know about its release information.
Will Good Burger 2 be shown in movie theaters?
Good Burger 2 is a Paramount+ original movie. It will not be released in theaters but can be streamed on Paramount+ from November 22, 2023 onwards.
The upcoming comedy is a sequel to 1997’s Good Burger. It brings back Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson as Ed and Dexter respectively from the original. They reunite at the Good Burger restaurant 26 years later to team up with a hysterical new group of employees.
Besides Mitchel and Thompson, the cast of Good Burger 2 features Lori Beth Denberg, Josh Server, Jillian Bell, Alex R. Hibbert, Carmen Electra, Lil Rel Howery, Elizabeth Hinkler, Kamaia Fairburn, Emily Hinkler, Fabrizio Guido, and Anabel Graetz.
The official synopsis of the movie reads:
“In the film, Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.”
Why isn’t Good Burger 2 in theaters?
Nickelodeon announced Good Burger 2 to be released as a Paramount+ original. It was never meant to come out in theaters.
Good Burger 2 was always meant to be a streaming movie. The original movie was produced with a budget of just $9 million and made $23 million at the box office.
But with the current dynamics of Hollywood, Good Burger 2 may not have worked as a theatrical release, especially while facing competition from movies such as The Hunger Games prequel, Trolls Band Together, Napoleon, and a few others. So, Paramount+ is launching it as a streaming original to sustain its subscribers.
