What is Attack on Titan Requiem?
Attack on Titan Requiem (also known as AoTnR) is a fan project that presents an alternate ending to the AoT series.
It is a doujinshi (self-published manga) based on the Akatsuki no Requiem by Linked Horizon music video which can be found on YouTube. According to its website, AoT Requiem is a rewriting of the last three chapters of the manga (chapters 137-139).
As of writing, the fan project has three parts or chapters available. They are accepting donations on their Patreon to support the project. Aside from the manga, there are also plans for an anime to be released. Studio Eclypse is the animation group doing the anime. According to their Twitter account, Attack on Titan Requiem is going to come out in fall 2024.
When the Attack on Titan manga ended, the events of the ending resulted in a big discussion in the anime community. There was a division between the fans’ opinions and this sparked controversy. Some people were satisfied or liked the manga’s ending. But at the same time, there were also a lot of people who were not happy with how Hajime Isayama wrote the ending.
Is Attack on Titan Requiem canon?
Attack on Titan Requiem is not canon.
A dedicated group of AoT fans from around the world who remain passionate about Hajime Isayama’s work created this fan-made project. The Attack on Titan Requiem website has a disclaimer that says it is a work of fanfiction.
