The Marvels is finally out and here’s our ending explained breakdown featuring spoilers from the new MCU movie. Those who seek more clarity on the ending should look no further.
The Marvels Ending: What happens to Dar-Benn, Carol, Monica, and Kamala?
Towards the end of The Marvels, Dar-Benn explodes wearing both bangles and blows a hole open into a different reality. Monica absorbs the abilities of Kamala and Carol and uses them to fix the dimensional hole. But unfortunately, she ends up on the other end.
Dar-Benn wore both bangles and clearly couldn’t handle their raw power. She ends up killing herself and blowing a hole into another dimension while trying to accomplish her goal. Following her demise, Kamala wears both bangles and can totally handle their power due to her mutation. She and Carol empower Monica, and she becomes strong enough to close the dimensional portal, which could have caused an incursion.
Unfortunately, she sacrifices herself and ends up on the other side of the portal in a different reality. Meanwhile, Carol finally settles down on Earth, moving to Louisiana, getting ready for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, similar to Star-Lord, and several other heroes on Earth.
As for Kamala, she mirrors the “Nick Fury recruiting Tony Stark” moment by ending up at Kate Bishop’s safe house in New York City and trying to recruit her for a team of super-powered kids. She also mentions Ant-Man’s daughter (knowing about her through SABER’s intel), setting up a Young Avengers team for the future.
The Marvels mid-credits scene with Monica, Beast, and Binary explained
In the mid-credits scene, Monica wakes up in an alternate reality to find X-Men’s Beast and a variant of her mother, Maria Rambeau, as Binary.
Waking up in the hospital bed, Monica has a lot of questions about where she is and her mother’s doppelganger. One of those is addressed by Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, who says that she ended up in a reality parallel to MCU’s Earth-616. While he goes to update Professor X about the situation, we see an X-Men door behind him. The scene ends with Maria Rambeau asking Monica who she is.
It seems that in this parallel reality, the X-Men are prominent instead of The Avengers. Meanwhile, Maria Rambeau’s Binary is the cosmic protector instead of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel. Now, they are expected to return in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Avengers: Secret Wars, or even Deadpool 3.
The film doesn’t have a post-credits scene. The final credits just ends with Flerken and Flerkitten noises over the final Marvel Studios logo.
