However, the film will eventually happen as the producer of the Mamma Mia! film series Judy Craymer, always envisioned Mamma Mia! as a trilogy. Moreover, Craymer revealed in an interview with Deadline in May 2023, that the film is close to being given the green light.
However, owing to the ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA members, the green light for Mamma Mia! 3 is likely being put on hold until the issues related to the strikes are resolved.
