Hijack Season 2 Release Date Rumors: Is It Coming Out?

With the first season coming to an end, many fans are already wondering about the Hijack Season 2 release date. The first season is about a corporate negotiator named Sam Nelson boarding a 7-hour-long flight from Dubai to London, which gets hijacked. But he used his excellent professional skills to save all the passengers of Flight KA29. Now viewers want to know if there will be a second season and when it is coming out.

Here’s all the Hijack Season 2 release date information we know so far and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Hijack Season 2 release date?

No, there are no plans for Hijack Season 2 after the first one ends on August 2, 2023. However, things could change in the coming future.

Hijack Season 1 began on June 28 and has been received very well by fans and critics. But at the moment of writing, no plans for a second season. When asked about it from the leading actor Idris Elba, he told TVLine that since his character Sam Nelson “isn’t a cop, he isn’t ex-military or a spy or anything like that” in the series, it makes the possibility of his return more “limited.”

Elba continued:

“This is just an ordinary guy heading home, and he gets into this incredible situation. And the likelihood of lightning striking at the same spot is rare. There are ways that we can bring Sam back. I just don’t know what they are yet. But if the audience wants it, then we’ll make it happen.”

Bringing Elba’s character back for another season might be tricky because he was pulled into a “once in a lifetime” situation in Season 1. Putting him on another hijacked flight might feel redundant as well. So, the chances of a second season are very slim because planes don’t get hijacked by terrorists every other day. But as Elba said, his character might be brought back. We’ll have to wait and see how it’s done.

ComingSoon will provide an update to this story once we receive official details.

The series is an original thriller created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith. One way they could follow up on season 1 is by turning Sam Nelson into a specialist hired by the government for situations similar to the first season. Then in season 2, maybe a train could be hijacked instead of a plane, and Sam Nelson could be contacted to negotiate a deal with the hijackers and save the day, but by being on the ground this time.

Or perhaps, we could get another hijacking story with a different leading character altogether in season 2. Hijack season 1 stars Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimée Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel, and Ben Miles.

Is Hijack Season 2 coming out on Apple TV+?

No, Hijack Season 2 will not be released on Apple TV+.

But as mentioned above, there are ways in which the story could continue.
