Since Rise of the Beasts only made $427 million at the worldwide box office, many were doubtful if the sequel would even happen. However, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura not only confirmed that it would happen, but he also gave us a potential release window.
While speaking with Sci-Fi & Fantasy Gazette, he commented on the development status of the next film in the Transformers franchise. When asked about its release date, he said:
“It’s a good question. We were about to start a script when the writers’ strike happened. So, our hope was we were going to have it for 2025, but I think the longer the strike goes on, the more it puts it in 2026.”
Considering that Paramount would want the Transformers movies to get back to their profitable ways, they’d want a stronger script for the Transformers x GI Joe Crossover compared to what Rise of the Beasts got. So, it’s likely that the film won’t be rushed after the WGA Writers’ strike gets over, and we’d get it sometime in 2026 instead of 2025.

Hasbro and Paramount were trying to get a cinematic universe working for a long time, and it finally came to fruition with Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The film’s ending confirmed that G.I. Joe existed in the same universe as the Transformers. Now, a future sequel will showcase a union of the Autobots, Maximals, and the Joes against the incoming threat of Unicron.
As far as the cast is concerned, we should expect Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Michael Kelly, and the voice actors of the Autobots and Maximals to return. Along with them, a few new A-List actors could be added as a part of the G. I. Joe.
