The recently released Ahsoka episode 1 features a closer look at the villains who will cross lightsabers with the titular heroine and her allies, including Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). Who is Shin Hati? Has she already appeared in Star Wars? Here’s what you need to know.
Who Is Shin Hati, the Ahsoka TV show villain?
Shin Hati is a brand-new character who will serve as one of the villains in Ahsoka.
Many details about Shin Hati’s identity are still under wrap, but we can gather some information from the interviews Sakhno has released. As revealed to EW, Shin is driven by a strong desire to achieve her goals, which isn’t necessarily a good thing in Star Wars. While Sakhno didn’t go into details, she teased complexity and depth for her character, going beyond the conventional attributes commonly associated with the Dark Side. In the series, she teams up with Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) to find Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Does Shin Hati use the Force and a lightsaber?
Shin Hati is a Force-sensitive character and a lightsaber user.
As Baylan states in the story, he and Shin are not Jedi but can rely on the Force when needed. First, Shin employs the Force and her orange lightsaber to defeat a New Republic officer easily. Then, she goes head-to-head with Sabine Wren in a lightsaber duel, proving she is a formidable warrior.

The peculiar color of Shin’s lightsaber, which switches from red to orange, is due to showrunner Dave Filoni’s intention to hint things may not always be as they initially appear. Will Shin have a sudden change of heart during the story?
