If you’re looking for the best Xumo series and shows to watch now in April 2024, then look no further. This free streaming platform has a lot of classic shows available on demand, like Unsolved Mysteries, Sliders, and Broadchurch. So trying to sort through them all to figure out which series to try is a uphill climb. To make things easier, here’s our top favorites for the best dramas, comedies, and reality TV to comb through on Xumo.

What are the best Xumo series to watch in April 2024?

The best Xumo series to watch this month mainly consists of crime-related TV, whether it’s a documentary or dramatic thrillers. We believe that the following eight series are the best options to binge through on the streaming platform in April 2024.

Anthony Bourdain A Cook’s Tour

Before Anthony Bourdain became a household name in his culinary travel shows No Reservations and Parts Unknown, he starred in A Cook’s Tour on the Food Network for several years. Debuting in 2000, the series is effectively a template for his later shows and features Bourdain as he hops around the globe, revealing how difficult it is to acquire certain ingredients and eating popular dishes from their countries of origin. In the two seasons of the show, he journeys to Vietnam, Tokyo, Morocco, Mexico, Saint Petersburg, Sydney, and much more. Xumo has both seasons on demand under the Travel tab.

Broadchurch

Airing for three seasons, the modern British crime drama Broadchurch is spearheaded by David Tennant as DI Alec Hardy and Olivia Colman as DS Ellie Miller. Taking place in the fictional, titular English town of Broadchurch, the detectives are tasked to investigate a slew of tough cases, including the death of the 11-year-old Danny Latimer in the first season. Unlike the typical police procedural, the story follows how the murder impacts the police as well as the Latimer family, who are brought under more scrutiny by the investigators and the other citizens in town. Xumo has all three seasons of Broadchurch, with eight episodes per season, under the Drama section.

Forensic Files

The crime TV genre owe a lot to Forensic Files, an investigative docu-series that focuses on the use of forensic science to solve the case. Originally titled Medical Detectives when it debuted in 1996, the show would go on to have 14 seasons, with each episode tackling a different mystery. Sometimes forensics would help figure out who a murderer actually was or help exonerate an innocent victim. All 14 seasons is available on demand through Xumo, though we should note that you will want to find it under the Crime TV section under Networks, instead of searching for it under TV Shows.

Nancy Drew

This 1995 Nancy Drew TV show is often forgotten when it comes to adaptations of this classic book series. The show was cut in the middle of its debut season, but that was partially due to its unfortunate time slot rather than the quality of the show. It stars the titular Nancy Drew (Tracy Ryan) as a criminology student, along with her cousins Bess Marvin (Jhene Erwin) and George Fayne (Joy Tanner), who join forces to solve strange mysteries. It was fairly difficult to find this show on Xumo, but you can find the first season by following this link or searching for it through Google.

Sliders

Making its debut in 1995, the sci-fi fantasy series Sliders lasted for five seasons, moving from Fox to the Sci-Fi Channel in the fourth season. In a similar vein to Quantum Leap, the story follows a crew, led by the inventor Quinn Mallory (Jerry O’Connell), who are all trapped between universes after “sliding” into one of them for the first time. The device powering the technology malfunctions, forcing the group to move from one alternate timeline to another for an unknown amount of time. You can watch all five seasons of Sliders on Xumo under the Drama category in the TV shows tab.

Taboo

The 2017 historical thriller Taboo is one of the best crime dramas in recent years. Tom Hardy stars as the gritty, intimidating James Delaney, who returns to England in 1814 after being thought dead in Africa. He arrives at his father’s funeral, only to find that his death may have something to do with a piece of land that he owned that has been caught in a dispute between the United States and Great Britain, who are both still at war. James believes that the East India Company has something to do with too, given that the company has a stake in the land, and he’ll do what it takes to uncover the truth. You can watch the eight-episode first season on Xumo, which we recommend watching before the second season comes out (though it’s still in production).

Unsolved Mysteries

Similar to Forensic Files, the Unsolved Mysteries show also pioneered the crime TV series, though it delved more into the unexplained and the paranormal. The show first aired in 1987 on NBC and remained there for ten years before being rebooted on different channels and platforms elsewhere. Hosted by Robert Stack, each episode details a different cold case, particularly on mysteries that involved missing people. The show uses reenactments to explain each strange incident, like conspiracy theories, ghost stories, and alien abductions. Xumo has the first 12 seasons available to watch. If you’re interested in more, you can find a reboot of the show on Netflix.

Van Helsing

If you’re looking for a supernatural drama, then Van Helsing might be what you’re looking for. This series premiered on Syfy in 2016, and all five seasons can be found on Xumo. It follows Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton), a descendent of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, who unceremoniously enters an apocalyptic world. Humanity is on the losing side of the war against the vampires, but her blood fortunately has the ability to turn them back into the humans they once were. She is joined by ex-Marine Axel Miller (Jonathan Scarfe) and various survivors of the Rising in the battle against the bloodsucking threats.
