Tony Pankhurst, the actor who lent his likeness to The Curator in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology, has passed away at the age of 67.
Pankhurst was the physical likeness for the narrator character of the horror game series from the creators of Until Dawn. Pip Torrens provided motion capture and voice work for the character. Pankhurst got to play the character in live action in the trailer for the third entry in the series House of Ashes.
Supermassive Games took to social media to publicly pay its respects to the actor, writing, ”We are all saddened to hear of Tony Pankhurst’s passing. He was the face of The Curator, and we loved working with him.”

The Curator hosted each episode of the Dark Pictures series, speaking to players about the fates they gave characters in the stories. He has appeared in all four of the games to date: Man of Medan, Little Hope, House of Ashes, and The Devil in Me. A new set of games is due to be released in the future, starting with sci-fi horror Directive 8020.
Pankhurst had many small roles on British television and in movies. His credits include The Tunnel, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Legend, Humans, and The Theory of Everything. He was also a stand-in for Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
His family announced the actor had passed on May 9, 2024, on a tribute page where they have asked for donations towards Hospice in the Weald, where he spent his final weeks.
