Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and nDreams announced the post-launch roadmap for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord on Tuesday, including what to expect in the coming months.
Since releasing earlier this year in October, Rise of the Ghost Lord has seen a few updates add new cosmetics, quality of life enhancements, and even a “Heist and Seek” game mode. Up next for the game, according to a recent developer diary, is a new “Infestation” game mode, which releases on Friday, December 15, 2023, which will be free to all players.
Next month, a new game mode called “Slimer Hunt” will be added into the game, as will cosmetics for the original Ghostbusters suits, allowing players to dress up as the iconic original group of Ghostbusters.
What is Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord about?
Developed by nDreams and published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, the game will allow players to step into the suits of a new group of Ghostbusters. The new crew are starting their own business in San Francisco.
In a PlayStation Blog post on the game, director Nathan Baseley also dives into how the PS VR2 comes into play in the game. According to Baseley, the PS VR2’s power allows for enhanced lighting and ghostly effects. The game also supports eye tracking as well as headset haptics — which will allow ghosts to taunt players — and adaptive trigger support. A roundtable interview with the developers was also released, where the team dives into more aspects of the update.
