Electronic Arts and Capital Games announced on Wednesday that the mobile game The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is now available to download on the App Store and Google Play Store.
What is The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth?
Heroes of Middle-earth brings together various characters from the fiction (such as Frodo, Sam, Legolas, and Pippen) into an experience that can be played solo or against other players. It “[pushes] the bounds of the narrative canon” by allowing users to wield a ring that brings certain characters into battle, which is shown in the new gameplay trailer.
The mobile game is styled after turn-based strategy RPGs, and will also feature new characters and regular in-game events that aim to “expand the narrative” and add more content for players to experience. Capital Games noted in its announcement that future post-release content updates will include “even more ways to explore Middle-earth.”
Players looking to check out The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth can download the game now on the App Store and Google Play Store for free.
The new game is just one of five The Lord of the Rings games in the works. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, and Wētā Workshop’s console game are the three other known ones, but the fifth one is a mystery.
