Electronic Arts announced Grid Legends in July and said it was merely coming in 2022. Now, that loose release window has become an exact release date. Grid Legends is coming out on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on February 25, the same day as Elden Ring.
Developer Codemasters also revealed the first gameplay for the racer, which features all the typical racing players might expect, but with some new features such as electric cars and new tracks like London and Moscow. Players can also create their own races and customize a whole host of different aspects like weather and time of day.

There will be over 250 events, a whole story campaign with live-action actors, and the return of the Drift and Elimination modes, the latter of which periodically knocks out the person in last place. It will also have over 100 cars at launch and crossplay between all systems. Codemasters is also boasting a smoother multiplayer experience that can get players into a race with just “three quick button presses.” Game Director Chris Smith spoke about the game and its focus on smoothening out the experience.
“With the release date set, the studio is putting the final polish to our deepest Grid game ever,” said Smith. “Grid Legends is an all-action accessible racer focused on variety and choice; deep career, a new innovative story mode and a Race Creator that allows players to create dream racing match-ups with deep personalization. And our new hop-in gameplay enables friends to connect in seconds and spend more time on the track and less time in lobbies.”
