WitcherCon, the celebration of all things based around the popular multimedia The Witcher franchise, is only two weeks away and it finally got its first trailer. The video teases that the convention will have plenty of content for Witcher fans, including surprises, “exciting news,” “epic reveals,” and, of course, Henry Cavill. As previously announced, WitcherCon kicks off its first stream on July 9 at 10 a.m. PT and its second stream later that day on 6 p.m. PT; both will be on CD Projekt Red’s and Netflix’s YouTube and Twitch channels.

This trailer is a sizzle reel of the event, cutting in footage from The Witcher III: Wild Hunt with the live-action Netflix series. Besides the aforementioned season 2 teases and “epic reveals,” it will also have “interviews, games, and sneak peeks” with the actors from the series including Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra as well as Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is the executive producer and showrunner of the Netflix live-action series. CD Projekt Red Studio Head Adam Badowski will also be there.

There are a few heavily pixelated scenes and, obviously, it’s impossible to tell what they are as these blurred parts could be hinting at a number of things. It could be teasing the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and improved PC version of The Witcher III, which is still slated to come out in the second half of 2021. There’s also the mobile game The Witcher: Monster Slayer that’s also supposed to be out this summer. Some of the frames could even be related to the prequel series Blood Origin or the animated film Nightmare of the Wolf. But don’t expect these mosaiced bits to be a new game announcement, as the official website explicitly states that there will be no new Witcher title at the convention.
That same website also lists that the con will have deep dives into the animated film, live-action series, games, and, oddly, the merchandise. There will also be lore experts and interactive panels that promise to have news and “never-before-seen reveals.” Expect a full, more detailed schedule soon.
