’s Team of the Season promo is rolling on, with Ligue 1 being the last of the major leagues to be featured.
The crème de la crème of the French top division have lit up a Gauloises and nonchalantly strolled down the boulevard, arriving in-game in packs from where they’ll be available until June 4. As is always the way, the squad features one incredibly desirable player that will have a 0.0000000000001% drop rate that will somehow still not put anybody off. C’est la vie.
Indeed, FIFA 21 cover star Kylian Mbappé of title runners-up Paris Saint-Germain is on the list with a monstrous 97-rated card. With better physicality and passing than his still-crazy-expensive Team of the Year version, TOTS Mbappé is sure to make even the best defenders quake in their boots. Expect him to command similar multi-million coin sums on the in-game transfer market.
Other highlights include what is sure to be an equally-elusive 96-rated Neymar Jr (who somehow makes the cut despite playing in less than half of his team’s matches this season and being sent off in two of them) as well as a 93-rated Marquinhos card with stats that will ensure that he becomes an absolute must-have defender.
There’s even a cheeky little Keylor Navas in there. All we need now is a Nani SBC to throw him into.
The complete FIFA 21 Ligue 1 Team of the Season lineup is as follows:-
Kylian Mbappe – Paris Saint-Germain – ST – 97
Neymar Jr – Paris Saint-Germain – CAM – 96
Memphis Depay – Olympique Lyonnais – CF – 95
Angel Di Maria – Paris Saint-Germain – RW – 95
Keylor Navas – Paris Saint-Germain – GK – 94
Jose Fonte – LOSC Lille – CB – 93
Wissam Ben Yedder – AS Monaco – ST – 93
Marquinhos – Paris Saint-Germain – CB – 93
Benjamin André – LOSC Lille – CDM – 92
Jonathan Bamba – LOSC Lille – LM – 92
Burak Yilmaz – LOSC Lille – ST – 91
Lucas Paquetá – Olympique Lyonnais – CM – 90
Jonathan Clauss – RC Lens – RWB – 90
Gaëtan Laborde – Montpellier – RM – 89
Caio Henrique – AS Monaco – LWB – 88
Aside from packable players, a set of in-game objectives are available that can get you a 90-rated Presnel Kimpembe from PSG.
Given the bizarrely patchy content schedule that EA has followed during this year’s somewhat uneven event, it’s tough to predict what we’ll see in the coming week. However, we can be sure that there will be a handful of players and challenge SBCs and at least one guaranteed Ligue 1 Team of the Season SBC on either Tuesday and/or Wednesday that will grant a random player from the set. In other words, you’re going to be getting that Caio Henrique card one way or the other, like it or not.
Next Monday will likely see the MLS and LATAM Team of the Season added to packs, with the Ultimate Team of the Season (comprising the best cards from the La Liga, Bundesliga, Premier League, Serie A, and Ligue 1 TOTS selections) dropping next Friday to round out the event.
