The developers at Bungie have revealed what’s next for Destiny 2, their ongoing massively multiplayer looter shooter. The Season of the Splicer will kick off on May 11 and run until August 24.
Over those there and a half months, players can go after three new exotic cosmetics, 30 new and reprised legendary weapons, and a new six-man matchmaking game type called Override. Bungie states in their update that the mode lets players team up to “unlock secrets and steal Vex code.”

The season will also add a new weekly pinnacle mission called Expunge, and both of these activities will be tied to the season pass. Free players will have a free trial of Override, but they’ll need to pay to get access after the first week of the season.
There is also at least one new cosmetic weapon tied to the season pass. The Stasis sidearm known as the Cryosthesia 77K will be available for pass holders, and it seems like it will be something that Crucible fans will want to get their hands on sooner rather than later.

Those without the season pass will be able to revisit the returning Vault of Glass raid and complete seasonal challenges for a free tier of loot rewards. Once the season ends in August, it’s unknown what’s next, although Bungie has promised a larger content drop called The Witch Queen at some point before the end of 2021.
