The ride is described as a “family-friendly dark ride that offers a zany, out-of-control adventure with unpredictable twists and turns, visual effects and transformations that happen during the scenes.” Parkgoers will step through the movie screen and join Mickey and other Disney friends on a railway adventure as they take part in the world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short.
Based on the recent award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, the attraction will use a mix of screens and audio-animatronics alongside a pioneering technology that Imagineering is calling “2 1/2 D” to bring various scenes involving Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and other Walt Disney friends to life.
The ride is officially described as follows: “The darling duo are taking a leisurely drive to a picnic in their sporty roadster – with Engineer Goofy’s train following merrily along. Plot twist – you get to go, too! Climb aboard a runaway railway and embark on a whirlwind ride through a world where the rules of physics don’t apply. Prepare for unexpected twists, slapstick gags and mind-boggling transformations at every turn, as Mickey and Minnie try to save the day. There’s no telling where this train is heading! This is an adventure for Mickey and Minnie fans of all ages.”
With an original Mickey Mouse story by Walt Disney Imagineering featuring the new song “Nothing Can Stop Us Now,” Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a celebration of Disney heritage and a showcase for state-of-the-art storytelling and attraction design.
