The Movie:
In short, this is a terrible movie. First of all, it’s incredibly predictable. I had the killer spotted as soon as they appeared on the screen. It doesn’t help matters that the synopsis on the cover described everything but the last 10 minutes of the film. The other problem with Written in Blood is that it uses every cop cliché in the book. You have the surly homicide detective who loses his partner and throws himself into his work. You have the Lieutenant who yells a lot at our hero. You also have the Lieutenant unfairly suspending our hero. You have detectives fighting with each other. It’s all here and done extremely poorly. At times it even seems like a soap opera as we discover that every cop on the force is sleeping with another cop’s wife or has a relative who is. It’s no wonder there’s so much crime in this city when the cops are all fighting because they’re screwing each other. The performances aren’t any good, either. To sum it all up, I wouldn’t recommend viewing this film unless you’re a really, really big fan of Michael T. Weiss from The Pretender.

The Bottom Line:
A weak story, clichéd characters, and predictable ending makes Written in Blood a film well worth passing on.
