It sold more than 4 million combined DVD and VHS units. About $6.5 million was derived from rentals, and the film generated more than $40 million in total consumer spending during its first day on video last Tuesday.
Sony’s The Grudge, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, was the nation’s No. 1 rental title for the week ending February 6, generating about $9.24 million. The horror film was the nation’s No. 2 bestselling DVD.
Shall We Dance? starring Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere was the No. 3 bestselling DVD during its debut week in release on home video and was the No. 6 best-rental title.
