School of Rock, starring Jack Black, went to the head of the class in its debut week, selling more than 1.5 million DVDs and becoming the nation’s No. 1 rental title for the week ending March 7. Paramount Home Entertainment’s comedy generated an estimated $8.82 million in rental revenue during its first five days on rental shelves.
Also, the first-season DVD of comic Dave Chappelle’s Comedy Central series, Chappelle’s Show, continued to sell beyond PHE’s expectations and gained widespread media attention during its second week in release on DVD.
