Universal Studios Home Video’s Seabiscuit, starring Tobey Maguire, sold more than 2.5 million combined DVD and VHS units during its first 24 hours on store shelves Tuesday, setting a pace that will likely make it the top-selling home video drama for the year.
Meanwhile, last week’s top rental title was Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment’s Bad Boys II, earning an estimated $18.19 million in gross rental revenue during its first five days on rental shelves. The DVD version came in at No. 1 on Nielsen VideoScan’s First Alert DVD sales chart during the same week, which ended Dec. 14.
