Warner Home Video’s Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride topped the preliminary national DVD sales chart for the week ending Feb. 5.
“Corpse Bride” beat a handful of other new theatrical releases that hit stores last week, including second-ranked The Legend of Zorro, from Sony Pictures, and 20th Century Fox’s In Her Shoes.
Buena Vista’s Flightplan, the previous week’s top DVD seller, slid down to No. 4, but retained its No. 1 spot on Home Media Retailing’s video rental chart for the week ending Feb. 5.
The mile-high thriller generated an additional $8.9 million in rental revenue to bring its two-week take to nearly $20 million, or 22% of its theatrical gross.
The Legend of Zorro debuted at No. 2, with rental earnings pegged at $8.8 million, while In Her Shoes bowed at No. 3 with estimated rental revenue of $8.2 million.
“Corpse Bride” entered the rental charts at No. 4, with estimated earnings of $7.7 million.
