Hulu documentary Betrayal: A Father’s Secret explores the disturbing child pornography charges against Jason Lytton and how his wife, Ashley Lytton, found out about a dark secret about her husband. Moreover, it sheds light on how the police investigated the case and apprehended the culprit. The documentary also featured Jason Lytton’s stepdaughter, Avaya Lytton.
Per ABC4, authorities got to know about Lytton when an unidentified person helping him set up a Venmo account found explicit images of minor girls. Initially, the person didn’t go to the police and talked to Lytton’s brother. Later, his brother had a conversation with Lytton, who decided to call the unidentified person and admitted to possessing child pornography. After the person shared the details with the authorities, investigators checked his phone and found the explicit material of underage girls. Following this, Jason Lytton was arrested and charged with several counts of sexual exploitation.
Although authorities charged him with 100 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, he never went to trial. Another report by ABC4 stated that Lytton took a plea deal and received a minimum sentence. The court sentenced him to 329 days in prison and ordered him to do 48 hours of probation. However, the punishment didn’t make Avaya Lytton comfortable, who said in the documentary that Jason Lytton should never come out of prison.
What did Jason Lytton do to his stepdaughter Ashley Lytton?
According to ABC News, Jason Lytton’s wife, Ashley Lytton, found a hidden folder in her husband’s iCloud storage and saw images of minor girls. However, she also found videos of her daughter, Avaya Lytton, in that folder. Per the documentary, Lytton recorded her without her knowledge. After knowing what had happened, Avaya shared how she found it difficult to continue living her everyday life and decided to move out. She told ABC News, “I could not be in public. I could not sit in a classroom. I could not be around other kids, either. I moved in with my dad, my biological father.”
Meanwhile, US Weekly reported that Avaya Lytton, who is an adult now, never wants to see Jason Lytton again. She even wants him in prison for the rest of his life. Citing her comments, US Weekly noted, “I don’t want him looking at me. I don’t want him seeing me. I don’t want him nothing. He completely ruined my family. He ruined our lives. He ruined me. I’m mentally not the same. I have extreme anxiety now. I have depression and have really bad PTSD. I would want him to be in prison. I don’t want him to look at another child.”
As of now, Jason Lytton is out of prison and living in Herriman, Utah. Moreover, he is currently registered as a sex offender.
