For years, scientists and researchers have had one question in their minds: Are we alone in this universe? Even though yes is a scary answer, the thought that some alien creatures beyond our world exist is much more frightening.

The subject of aliens and UFOs has been a topic of interest for several filmmakers since the inception of the showbiz. Furthermore, Hollywood has released many movies that showcase the exploits of these extra-terrestrial creatures and entities. While in some movies, they are portrayed as wholesome and friendly, in others, they possess severe bloodlust and are the epitome of evil. Some of the most popular films on this topic are The Thing, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Aliens, Predator, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Blob, and more.

Apart from entertaining movies, this subject has been the interest of many fascinating documentaries. Here is a list of some of the best ones.

Ariel Phenomenon 

The 2022 documentary, Ariel Phenomenon takes a closer look at a supposed UFO sighting that took place in rural Zimbabwe. Reports suggest that on September 16, 1994, 60 school kids claimed to see a flying object on their school premises. Even though officials did not believe their story, the students stuck with their story. In this documentary. One of those children comes back to this place after 30 years. Furthermore, she brings a BBC reporter and a Harvard professor with her to authenticate her claim.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the synopsis of Ariel Phenomenon reads, “In this first feature documentary about the Ariel School UFO incident, Ariel Phenomenon explores an African extraterrestrial encounter witnessed by over sixty schoolchildren in 1994. As a Harvard professor, a BBC war reporter, and past students investigate, they struggle to answer the question: “What happens when you experience something so extraordinary that nobody believes you?”

The director and producer of this documentary is Randall Nickerson. Furthermore, its total runtime is 1 hour and 41 minutes.

Love & Saucers 

The 2017 intriguing documentary, Love & Saucers, narrates the story of a New Jersey-based artist named David Huggins. Interestingly, David claims that he lost his virginity to a female alien. Furthermore, reports suggest that this consensual sexual relationship lasted for several years and he even depicted his interactions in his mysterious paintings.

According to Love & Saucers’ Vimeo page, its synopsis reads, “The strange story of David Huggins, a 74-year-old man who claims to have had a lifetime of encounters with otherworldly beings – including an interspecies romance with an extra-terrestrial woman (with whom he lost his virginity to). As a form of self-therapy, he chronicled it all in surreal oil paintings, few of which have ever been seen. Filmed in an intimate, nonjudgemental style, Love and Saucers lets David tell his story, and in turn lets the audience decide what is fact, fiction, and everything in-between.”

The director of Love & Saucers is Brad Abrahams, while its producers are Grant Ibrahim and Matt Ralston. It runs for just over one hour.

Mirage Men

Released in 2013, Mirage Men is based on a book of the same name by Mark Pilkington and John Lundberg. According to this project, the US Air Force and US intelligence services created a false narrative of UFOs and extraterrestrial visits to hide a bigger and more terrifying truth: classified weapons research. Furthermore, it features interviews with ex-AFOSI (Air Force Office of Special Investigations) officers.

According to Cargo Film & Releasing, the synopsis of Mirage Men reads, “What if you discovered elements in the US military had actively encouraged and disseminated a plethora of absurd stories as part of their Cold War counterintelligence arsenal – manufacturing the myth of the UFO as a powerful weapon of mass deception and the perfect cover for all manner of clandestine technologies and operations?. Witness of Another World

Witness of Another World narrates the story of an Argentinian gaucho named Juan. Reports suggest that over 30 years ago, he came face-to-face with aliens that traumatized him for life. Furthermore, the encounter was so disturbing that, to this day, he lives like a hermit. And he refuses to elaborate on what happened to him.

According to Another World’s official English trailer on the 1091 Pictures’ YouTube channel, its synopsis reads, “A lonely gaucho named Juan lives a solitary existence on a remote farm ever since he witnessed a UFO event. Filmmaker Alan Stivelman, together with the help of well-known scientist and researcher Jacques Vallée, begins an epic journey to help Juan understand the deep meaning of his close encounter. This true story shows the long-term consequences of close encounters, proving that no one is exempt from a potential contact.”

Released in 2018, Another World’s director, producer, and writer is Alan Stivelman. Its total runtime is 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Moment of Contact

2022’s Moment of Contact delves deep into the Varginha UFO Incident. Reports suggest that in 1996, citizens of Varginha, Brazil, witnessed a UFO crash. Furthermore, several young girls had a close encounter with a 4 ft tall being which people think was an alien. This being apparently had a huge head, big red eyes, and brown oily skin.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the synopsis of Moment of Contact reads, “Moment of Contact is an exploration of extraterrestrial encounters. This one is centered on a series of events in 1996 when citizens of Varginha, Brazil, reported seeing one or more strange creatures and a UFO crash.”

It further reads, “A number of locals, including a group of girls ranging in age from 14-21, had a close encounter with a being described as about 4 feet tall, with brown oily skin, a large head and huge red eyes.”

Moment of Contact was directed by James Fox. Its total runtime is 1 hour and 48 minutes.
