The latest episode of Dark Side of the Ring delves into the illustrious yet short-lived life and career of professional wrestler, Terry Gordy. The third episode of its fifth season, “Terry Gordy: Final Flight of the Freebird“, will air on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET on VICE TV.
Terry Gordy tragically passed away on July 16, 2001, due to cardiac arrest. Reports suggest that his girlfriend discovered his body in his home in Tennessee. At the time of his death, he was only 40 years old.

Terry Gordy suffered from addiction throughout his career
According to The Sportster, Terry Gordy loved to party. He was addicted to painkillers and alcohol, which ultimately resulted in his death. Furthermore, his addiction got so serious that it even affected his in-ring work, due to which, he took a break from wrestling in 1996.
Throughout his life, Terry Gordy appeared in several wrestling promotions. He wrestled in Mid-South Wrestling, World Class Championship Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, World Championship Wrestling, and more. Furthermore, he was a part of the stable called Fabulous Freebirds, alongside, Michael Hayes, Buddy Roberts, Jimmy Garvin, Badstreet, and Blackbird. Gordy also wrestled in Japan, for the promotion, All Japan Pro Wrestling. There, he was a part of the tag team Miracle Violence Connection, alongside, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams.
