Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story is the upcoming Hulu docuseries that will be released on April 26, 2024. The trailer for the four-part series dropped on February 9, 2024. It shows footage from the American rock band’s journey to popularity and fame. The series also follows the band members’ journeys over the decades since 1983, when Jon Bon Jovi first formed Bon Jovi.
The rock band produced some chartbusters consistently in the 1980s and ’90s. Their third album, Slippery When Wet, remains their most popular album, including the most widely loved songs from the band. “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “You Give Love a Bad Name,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” are the most popular songs from the album. They are also some of Bon Jovi’s most widely known works.
Right before Slippery When Wet was released in 1986, the band shifted its style by moving into mainstream music from heavy metal. The band collaborated with songwriter Desmond Child to move into pop, and the album achieved the desired results. It remained the top-selling album of 1987. It stayed on the No. 1 US Billboard 200 chart for eight weeks. According to Fox News, that took the band and all its members to new heights of fame.
Even all these decades later, Slippery When Wet remains the band’s best-selling album. It is also in the Top 100 best-selling albums in the United States. Bon Jovi headlined 130 shows and toured on behalf of the album for an entire year. Drummer Tico Torres, bassist Alec John Such, and guitarist Richie Sambora joined hands with Jon Bon Jovi. Following this, they formed the band in 1983.
When did Bon Jovi’s first album come out?
John Francis Bongiovi Jr., widely known as Jon Bon Jovi, used to play music and sing along with David Bryan, a keyboard player in New Jersey. Together, they formed a band called the Atlantic City Expressway in the early 1970s. In 1980, Jon Bon Jovi recorded his first single, “Runaway,” which became progressively popular on the radio. After the success of his first single, he formed the band in 1983. Their first album, Bon Jovi, was released in 1984.
As per Fox News, the album consisted of Runaway and was at No. 43 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Their second album, 7800° Fahrenheit, allowed the band to tour around the world. They also performed at the Farm Aid in 1985. It was only after the release of Slippery When Wet that the band shot to fame and became popular in the mainstream American rock music scene.
In recent news, Jon Bon Jovi reportedly suffered a vocal cord injury that required him to undergo surgery. He explained that his condition involved one of his cords being “literally atrophied.” He said that the vocal cords are supposed to be parallel to each other, but in his case, one of the cords was much thinner and weaker, which caused the thicker cord to hurt it. Jovi underwent surgery more than 19 months ago and is reportedly recovering well.
At a panel event for Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, Jon Bon Jovi expressed that he performed for the first time since his surgery. The Independent reported that on the Grammy Awards weekend, he was awarded the MusiCares Person of the Year for 2024 for his philanthropic work and music.
Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will be released on April 26, 2024.
