The BBC has commissioned a documentary about the life of legendary Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor. Interestingly, Variety reported that this project will feature and be executive-produced by the internet personality, Kim Kardashian. Furthermore, the British production company Passion Pictures is creating it.
Reports suggest the three-part documentary’s working title is ‘Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar‘. Elizabeth Taylor’s last interview was conducted in 2011 by none other than Kim Kardashian herself. In a statement, the 43-year-old stated that the late actress was a fighter. She said, “Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter. She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint.”
Furthermore, creative director and executive producer at Passion Pictures Hamish Fergusson said, “Elizabeth developed and defined our understanding of stardom and celebrity across decades. A unique talent and true luminary, we’re hugely excited to explore her extraordinary life and enduring legacy.”
Elizabeth Taylor is often considered one of the greatest Hollywood actresses of all time. She rose to fame in the 40s and 50s and gradually became the world’s highest-paid movie star in the 1960s. Some of her most popular films are Cleopatra, The Taming of the Shrew, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, National Velvet, Reflections in a Golden Eye and more. She was born on February 27, 1932, and died on March 23, 2011. At the time of her death, she was 79 years old.
How old was Elizabeth Taylor in her last interview?
Elizabeth Taylor’s last-ever interview was a conversation between her and Kim Kardashian in February 2011, for Harper’s Bazaar. At this time, she is 79 years old. Unfortunately, she passed away just a month after this interaction.
In the interview, Kardashian stated that the late actress’s performance in Cleopatra was inspirational. When the latter was asked for advice on being a queen, she said, ” I have never wanted to be a queen! Cleopatra was a role, and I am an actor, so it was fun to play one, but it’s not real. The real Cleopatra had an incredibly complicated life, and she had to be very, very canny to survive as long as she did.”
She further stated, “For me, the most interesting thing about her was her passion. The things that are important to me—being a mother, a businesswoman, an activist—are all things that were borne out of great passion.”
Kardashian then asked her about her favorite off-screen and on-screen looks to which Taylor replied, “I loved the Edith Head lavender dress that I wore to the Oscars in 1970. It was designed around the Taylor-Burton diamond. Some of the Cleopatra costumes were fun. They even had real gold threads. And I wore them as evening dresses afterward!”
She ended her statement by saying, “I also loved some of the great caftans that I wore in the ’60s and ’70s with big sunglasses and major jewelry. I love to be casual and comfortable, but I also love the easy glamour of wearing jewelry all the time.”
According to People Magazine, Elizabeth Taylor married eight times, twice to Richard Burton. Furthermore, she had four children, one of them being adopted.
