The ongoing period C-drama Tender Light aired episode 12 on May 2, 2024. It features Zhang Xincheng and Tong Yao in the lead roles. The episode focuses on Lin Fang Lu and Officer Chen investigating the death of Hu Lifeng. Officer Chen suspects that it was Nan Ya (Tong Yao) and Xu Yi who killed him and dumped his body somewhere. They searched the river to retrieve Lifang’s corpse but could not find anything. Fan Lu is mortified but is not ready to give up. As they get ready to leave the site, the rescue team pulls out a dead body from the water.
An identity card reveals that the body belongs to an individual named Liu Chengshui. This motivates them to carry on the search operation. Sometime later, they also get hold of Hu Lifeng’s body. A thorough examination by the forensics team reveals that Chengshui died one month ago. For Lifeng, the time period could be as far back as five years. But the common factor in both of these assaults was that they were both hit by a heavy object. Judging from the circumstances, Fang Lu declares Xu Yi as the prime suspect in both murders, and the only person who can help them solve the mystery is Nan Ya.
Tender Light ep 12: Who did Tong Yao’s late husband murder?
When Fang Lu interrogates her and shows her the photos, Nan Ya starts to open up. She accuses Lifang of sexually assaulting her. She opens up about how her stepmother didn’t support her decision to study at the university and forced her to work at the factory. Even though Nan Ya had equal rights to the land owned by her father, her stepmother deceived her. The only person who stood by her side was her best friend, Chen Ling.
After she started working at the factory, her bond with Chen Ling grew even stronger. Chen Ling and Xu Yi were seeing each other at that time, and the three of them always went out together. But things started to take a different turn when Xu Yi started developing feelings for Nan Ya and would shower her with gifts behind Chen Ling’s back.
Xu Yi even confessed to Nan Ya, but she harshly turned him down. Meanwhile, Lifeng started to blackmail Nan Ya, saying he’d tell Chen Ling about her affair with Xu Yi. One time, when he got into a huge fight with Nan Ya, Xu Yi came to her rescue. He strictly told Lifeng to stay away from her.
Xu Yi kept pestering Nan Ya about going out with her. He invited her to a movie, but Nan Ya didn’t budge from her decision. Despite her rejection, Xu Yi kept waiting for her in front of the theater, but she didn’t show up. Worried, he went to the factory to check up on her.
At the factory, Xu Yi was horrified to see that Lifeng was forcing himself on Nan Ya. Xu Yi attacked Lifeng to save her, and the two got into a huge brawl. Lifeng was not in his right mind, and he fatally injured Nan Ya. Having no choice, Xu Yi hits him with an iron rod.
