The ongoing Xianxia C-drama The Legend of Shen Li released episode 17 on March 26, 2024. It features Lin Gengxin and Zhao Liying in the lead roles. The episode primarily focuses on Xing Zhi (Lin Gengxin) and Shen Li (Zhao Liying)’s bond getting stronger.
Xing Zhi performs a purification ritual for Jing Yan and frees his soul. Shen Li’s confusion rises as she thinks Xing Zhi is the only ancient god. He tells her that a long time ago, there were other ancient gods just like him. Jing Yan is also known as the mortal Gu Chengjin and also as the ancient god Qingye, one of the wisest deities of the extra-natural heaven.
Qingye lost his divinity after he used his power to save his loved one. Shen Li thinks that a person’s choices control his fate. Shen Li asks Xing Zhi why he activated Qingye’s divine consciousness. Xing Zhi’s kind nature is revealed as he says that he spared him because he did not commit any grave sin. Shen Li is surprised to find out that diviners also possess emotions that can not be cast aside.

Xing Zhi and Shen Li return to the North Academy. She learns that Furong has obeyed her instructions and returned to the immortal realm. Furong and Jing Xi’s growing closeness didn’t go unnoticed by Shen Li. She promises to keep him away from the ladies after she marries him so he does not play with their emotions.
In episode 17 of The Legend of Shen Li, the whole city indulges in festivities. Xing Zhi and Shen Li participate in the celebrations as well. The two are gradually developing a strong bond. Xing Zhi wants to confess something to Shen Li, but he seems hesitant. At last, he mouths it from the distance. He tells her that he wants to protect her from all impending dangers.
The next day, Shen Li comes to ask for Xing Zhi’s permission to return to the immortal realm. Xing Zhi asks her to stay for a few more days until she has completely recovered and the miasma has cleared. But Shen Li needs to return as Shen Mu Yue (Zeng Li) will make arrangements accordingly. Xing Zhi decides to accompany her.
Upon returning, they find that Furong’s sister, You Lan (Jackie Li), has come to visit the immortal realm. She gets upset when she sees Shen Li and Xing Zhi together. She feels it is inappropriate for Shen Li to be around another man as she will soon marry.
As Xing Zhi can sense the rising tension, he wittily handles the situation. He tells everyone present that he came down to the mortal realm to investigate the miasma. Whereas Shen Li was there from before, looking for her fiancé Furong. He tells them that they had an unexpected encounter there. Shen Li finds it impressive that Xing Zhi can lie so naturally.
