A brand new teaser trailer for Toho Animation‘s Haikyu the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump has been released, ahead of its theatrical release in Japan on February 16. The film comes after nearly four years since the hit sports anime concluded its 25-episode fourth season.
The video provides fans a glimpse of the long-awaited Nationals match between the Karasuno and Nekoma teams, which has been set up since their first practice match back in Season 1. The tension-filled volleyball match is expected to push both teams to their limits, as they fight to keep their place in the Nationals.

What is Haikyu!! about?
“Haikyu!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata’s love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured pro volleyball player, Hinata creates a volleyball team in his last year of middle school,” reads the synopsis (via Crunchyroll). “Unfortunately the team is matched up against the “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama’s team in their first tournament and inevitably lose. After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama After entering high school, Hinata joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined.”
Haikyu!! is based on Haruichi Furudate’s original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series of the same name. The anime features the voices of Ayumu Marase as Hinata, Kaito Ishikawa as Kageyama, Satoshi Hino as Daichi, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Nishinoya, Yu Hayashi as Tanaka, Koki Uchiyama as Tsukushima, Miyu Irino as Sugawara, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Asahi, Soma Saito as Yamaguchi, Kaori Nazuka as Kiyoko Shimizo and more.
At the moment, it’s currently unclear if animation studio Production I.G. is planning to continue the anime series with its fifth season. Following the debut of Haikyu the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, Toho Animation is expected to release another movie. This could potentially end the anime’s story.
