My Hero Academia (MHA): When Does Deku Leave U.A.?

Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia has birthed some of the most incredible and intense anime arcs in Shonen history. Among its most stellar arcs are the Paranormal Liberation War and Dark Hero arcs. The Dark Hero arc, in particular, left fans at the edge of their seats as they got to see their friendly neighborhood hero, Deku, abandon his friends and leave the U.S. to become a vigilante. The Dark Hero arc ran from chapters 307–328 of the manga and episodes 132–138 of the anime. It featured a lot of amazing fights, like Deku vs. Lady Nagant and his rematch against Muscular. However, Deku’s departure from the U.A. was the arc’s major talking point.

Does Deku join U.A. again?

After leaving the U.A. in an attempt to keep everyone safe, Deku chose to fight alone against the AFO’s forces. AFO sent numerous villains and assassins after him, like Muscular and Lady Nagant. Despite his best attempts to save people, his cold demeanor and violent appearance made most people look at him like a villain.

Exhausted from his battle with Lady Nagant and the previous assassin, All Might and Endeavour advised him to rest, but he declined. Deku then confronted the dictator, a villain capable of controlling civilians with his quirk. Deku tried to help, but his damaged glove prevented him from using the air force or black whip. The civilians dogpiled him and apologized as they weren’t in control.

Bakugo arrived and shot the dictator with his A.P. shot technique before joining up with the rest of Class 1-A. They urged him to return to school, but he refused to force them to fight. Deku vs. Class 1-A was one of the most emotional fights in the series. The result showed Deku returning to the U.A. with the rest of Class 1-A.
