Best Anime Directed at Studio Pierrot: Naruto, Bleach & More

Studio Pierrot is a Japanese animation studio that was established in 1979. Since its inception, the studio has boasted a wide range of popular anime shows that have made their way into mainstream media. For fans wishing to explore the catalog, here are the four best anime shows directed at Studio Pierrot.

Naruto: Shippuden

A fairly popular anime at Studio Pierrot is Naruto: Shippuden which spans over 500 episodes. The TV series was first broadcast in February 2007, and it continues to be a go-to shōnen anime for anyone setting foot in the genre.

It shows the aftermath of the preceding Naruto series, which ended with the Naruto Uzumaki leaving the Konohagakure village. He trains extensively to become the best shinobi in the world, and his return marks the beginning of Naruto: Shippuden. However, the storyline takes a gloomy turn when the Akatsuki arrive, threatening the world of ninjas. From here begins Naruto’s journey as a more mature shinobi as he vows to protect his loved ones from his adversaries.

Bleach

Bleach is another one of Studio Pierrot’s best anime series. It began airing in October 2004 and remains relevant in popular media. It is a shōnen anime based on Tite Kubo’s manga. The series blends action, adventure, and fantasy, revolving around Ichigo Kurosaki, the protagonist of Bleach.

A sinister spirit, called Hollow, attacks Ichigo’s family, who was just a high schooler at the time. After the incident, Ichigo meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, who turns him into a Soul Reaper to protect his family. Hence, Ichigo embarks on a journey to hunt the Hollows, along with his friends. On their way, they tackle challenges and come face-to-face with new threats at every step.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files

With a decent IMDb rating of 8.5, Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files is a 90s Martial Arts anime. It began airing in October 1992 and became one of the best works at Studio Pierrot. With bits of mythological fiction, this shōnen anime has elements of fantasy and action. The story unfolds through the lens of Yusuke Urameshi.

Yusuke is a delinquent who selflessly runs in to save a younger boy from a car crash, only to lose his life. Stunned by his sacrifice, the spirit realm offers him a chance to earn his life back. However, the twist is that he has to succeed in a few tasks. Hence, with the help of demons and the death god, Botan, he trains to become the protector of humanity.

Tokyo Ghoul

Based on the manga of the same name, Tokyo Ghoul debuted in July 2014. It is a seinen anime that deals with themes of action, fantasy, and psychological horror. As the title suggests, the story is set in Tokyo, where monsters named ghouls roam all over the city to feed on human flesh. They resemble humans in appearance, and rookies cannot tell them apart from the general public.

Ken Kaneki, a college-going student, is central to the plot. Although he prefers to be alone, a pretty woman named Rize Kamishiro asks him out. However, he leads him on with ulterior motives, and Ken soon finds himself in a hospital. It turns out that Ken’s body underwent some modifications, and that he is actually a ghoul in a human disguise. As he struggles to keep humanity alive amid this unfortunate transformation, Tokyo Ghoul remains one of the best anime shows produced by Studio Pierrot.
