The Apothecary Diaries episode 19 recap
In The Apothecary Diaries episode 19, Lihaku approaches Maomao to discuss some strange events that had been happening in the palace. While pondering upon them, Maomao figures that although the events could be happening independently, they may be linked to one another.
If they were not coincidental and part of some big plan, Suirei, as Maomao suspects, could be the person orchestrating this plan. However, she refuses to speak based on conjecture. Though she seems disinterested in investigating further, Jinshi lures her to use Ox bezoar as bait.
Once Maomao connects all the dots, she understands that an important royal member’s life is in danger. However, a guard stops her when she approaches the royal ceremony hall. In the process, he hits her with a wooden baton, but she doesn’t get unconscious and continues to risk her life to protect the person inside the hall.
Shockingly, Lakan arrives on the spot and defends Maomao, allowing her to run into the hall just in time to save the person. As the ceiling falls on the two of them, Maomao gets severely injured, but she looks up to find out that the person who was almost killed is Jinshi.
The latter then carries Maomao outside the hall and passes by Lakan, who, witnessing the scene, had a surprised look on his face. With blood dripping down Maomao’s injured leg, Jinshi moves forward, ending the episode on a melancholic note.
