The official account of X (formerly known as Twitter) of Black Butler season 4 released a new trailer on Thursday, February 15, 2024, that confirmed the release date. The trailer shed light onto the anime cast featuring the “Prefect 4” (P4) group of characters, who will serve as the four heads of the houses involved in the upcoming season’s plot.
The clip also revealed that the cast of Black Butler season 4 will appear at Anime Japan on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 12:45 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. JST. There will be several other series in the event, but their titles haven’t been announced yet. Fans are speculating that the season 4 premiere may be held there.

The latest Black Butler season 4 trailer revealed that the series will be released on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:30 p.m. JST. The series will be broadcast on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, BS11, MBS, and other networks. After the local release, viewers can stream the anime on Crunchyroll in English-speaking, Latin American, and European countries.
Kenjiro Okada is directing the anime at CloverWorks Studios, with Hiroyuki Yoshino undertaking the composition of the upcoming season. Notably, Yoshino has written and supervised scripts for the previous anime adaptations of the series. Yumi Shimizu, who also served as the animation director and key animator in the 2008 version of the anime, is the character designer. Aside from them, Ryo Kawasaki is composing the music.
The anime series was first released back in 2008 in Japan. It received a second season shortly after in 2010. Audiences can catch all the previously released seasons and OVAs on Funimation.
