Popular Mangaka & One Piece Creator Eiichiro Oda’s Best Manga, Ranked

Eiichiro Oda is the amazing mastermind behind the award-winning manga One Piece. He is also one of the most accomplished writers in the Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The One Piece series first kicked off 25 years ago and is still going strong to this very day. The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate who goes on a quest to become the Pirate King and find the fabled treasure known as “One Piece.” The mangaka’s popularity soared, earning him the nickname GODA (God + Oda), a tribute given to him by One Piece fans.

Despite not being as popular, the famous mangaka has a lot more good manga than his award-winning pirate story. He began his manga journey when he was only 17 years old, so it comes as no surprise that he would have more than one good manga under his belt. Ikki Yako was published by the famous mangaka back in 1994 during the Shonen Jump spring festival. The popular work is one of the author’s best works before his epic pirate tale. The story revolves around Guko, a monk who travels across a forest looking for a place to spend the night. After barely surviving a monster attack, Guko makes his way to a village, where he is asked to slay the very same monster that he encountered.

Wanted was Eiichiro Oda’s first manga, the one-shot manga was written in 1992 during his senior year of high school. The series was written under his pen name, “Tsuki Himizu Kikondo.” 

Despite the story being released in 1993, some of its traits live on in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. It is a collection of short stories that showcase his talent for weaving imagi­native narra­tives and interesting characters.

Monster

The one-shot manga was released in originally published in the 1994 Shonen Jump Autumn Special. Later on, the mangaka revealed that Monster was part of the One Piece universe several years before Straw Hat Luffy set sail.

The story follows Ryuma Shimotsuki, who is known as the Sword God in the One Piece series. He also makes an appearance in the Thriller Bark Arc. The story focuses on Ryoma’s Journey and sheds more light on his title as the world’s best Swordsman. The popular one-shot manga just got its own Netflix adaptation, and it has been well-received by fans of the manga and other One Piece fans.

The story follows Bran, a pickpocket who, although is trying to correct his way of life, just cannot stop his menacing ways. Having had enough of his bad character, God decides to Kill Bran and give so he can give his soul a firm scolding. God planned to kill him with a special notebook, which has the power to carry out events within the time and date it is specified. However, it all goes wrong when he writes a meteorite will hit Branchi instead of Bran’s House. After noticing his error, God gifts the notebook to Bran. The interaction between the two characters is such a joy to watch.

Romance Dawn Versions 1 & 2

Romance Dawn Version One was the initial One Piece prototype. The story also centers around a rubber boy called Luffy, who idolizes and wants to be like Red-haired Shanks. It starts with an attack by the Crescent-Moon Gally, where Luffy meets Silk, who many believe to be Nami’s prototype.

Romance Dawn Version 2 is a further iteration of version one. It follows the story of a Rubber boy called Luffy. However, the major difference is that Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by his grandfather, who gave him the straw hat instead of Shanks.
