Gardar invites Arnheid and their son, Hjalti, to come home. Snake apprehends Gardar while Fox takes Arnheid away. Einar and Thorfinn watch the events unfold, and Thorfinn stops Einar from making a move with his axe. Snake and Gardar start fighting, but Snake eventually knocks Gardar out and captures him. He then tells Thorfinn and Einar why he can’t let Gardar go.
Before dinner, Einar expresses thoughts on wanting to rescue Gardar. Arnheid decides to tell them about her past. The men in their village decided to join the fight over a marsh containing iron, while the women and children defended their homes. However, their village was raided while the men were away, and her son was taken. Arnheid then reveals she’s pregnant with Ketil’s child and how she wants to wait for the storm to pass. Sverkel tells Arnheid a story from his past, where he also waited for the storm to pass. He tells her that even waiting out the storm leaves scars behind. Arnheid then leaves to go to Gardar.
