GKIDS has announced that it will be distributing the upcoming Studio Madhouse anime film Goodbye, Don Glees!.
Though the movie debuted in Japan in February of this year, Goodbye, Don Glees! will release internationally in theaters this year. The international release will feature both English and Japanese dubs.

This is the first original feature from writer and director Atsuko Ishizuka, who directed the acclaimed A Place Further Than The Universe series. The poster for the film can be seen below.
“We were all incredibly moved by Atsuko Ishizuka’s perceptive and fresh take on a classic story of teenage friendship,” GKIDS President David Jesteadt commented. “We can’t wait for audiences to share this beautiful blend of comedy and drama, set in the days of summer when anything seems possible.”

“Teen misfits Roma, Toto, and Drop call themselves the ‘Don Glees,’ an informal name for their backyard adventures,” says the official synopsis. “One day, when the trio gets blamed for a nearby forest fire, they set off into the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare between the friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on wildly different paths in life.”
