Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will get a global theatrical release this summer in both subbed and dubbed formats.

Crunchyroll and Toei Animation announced the news, which will be Crunchyroll’s first globally-distributed theatrical release. Internationally, the film will be distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment in North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
“For more than 30 years, the Dragon Ball franchise has delighted fans around the globe who have followed the world’s greatest warriors who defend Earth from forces of evil,” said Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini. “We’re thrilled to partner with Toei Animation to bring fans the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super to the legion of super fans eager to continue the adventure and to grow the anime audiences who are discovering it for the first time.”

“The Red Ribbon Army was once destroyed by Son Goku. Individuals, who carry on its spirit, have created the ultimate Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2,” reads the official synopsis. “These two Androids call themselves ‘Super Heroes’. They start attacking Piccolo and Gohan… What is the New Red Ribbon Army’s objective? In the face of approaching danger, it is time to awaken, Super Hero!”
The anime adaptation of Dragon Ball Super ended in March 2018 after 131 episodes aired. This marks the second movie for Dragon Ball Super, which is the highly successful sequel series to Dragon Ball Z. The first film was Dragon Ball Super: Broly, which was directed by Tatsuya Nagamine and written by Akira Toriyama. Broly took place after the events of the Universe Survival Saga and features Goku and Vegeta taking on the legendary Saiyan.
