Today, Funimation announced subscribers to its anime streaming service in the United Kingdom and Ireland can now watch My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising.
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is the second film based on the popular anime television series. It is directed by Kenji Nagasaki and produced by Japan-based animation studio Bones. It originally released in Japan in December 2019. It came to North America in February 2020. The events in the film take place after the Meta Liberation Army arc in the manga.

Here is a brief synopsis of the second feature-length My Hero Academia film from Funimation:
“The series’ second feature-length movie, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, follows Deku and Class 1-A as they’re tasked with taking care of the peaceful Nabu Island.
However, when a group of fresh new villains appear, it’s up to the class to protect the island without the help of any pro heroes! Just a little more than they signed up for, but together they’re unstoppable!”
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising was received well by critics. It grossed $15.1 million in Japan and $13.1 million in the United States and Canada. Overall, it grossed $28.7 million worldwide.

After you’re done catching up, you’ll be ready for the next film in the series, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission. It is currently set to premiere in Japan theaters on August 6, 2021. A North American date has yet to be announced.
My Hero Academia began as a manga series written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2014. The anime television adaptation premiered in Japan in 2016. Both are currently still ongoing. There have been a few video games based on the series as well, including My Hero One’s Justice.
