A powerful entity is introduced in One Piece Film: Red called the Tot Musica. The details of its existence and powers may be hard to pick up when so much is happening in the movie, so let’s go a bit deeper into the whole thing.
What is the Tot Musica?
The Tot Musica technically refers to two things: the Demon King of Songs and the song that summons him. The Demon King is a huge ghoul that wields immense power, as it was able to ravage the island of Elegia when Uta accidentally unleased it as a child and was only stopped by Shanks and his crew. The song “Tot Musica” is a forbidden piece of music written partially in Elder Futhark — the oldest known runic alphabet. Gordon was unable to destroy the sheets for “Tot Musica” due to his love of music, which led to it once again summoning the Demon King in Film: Red.
What Powers Does the Tot Musica Have?
The Tot Musica is an incredibly powerful entity that is feared by Gordon, who witnessed its power firsthand. When Uta accidentally summoned it 12 years prior to the film, the Demon King of Songs destroys a great deal of Elegia, killing most of the people who lived on the island. Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates were able to save Uta and stop the Demon King, but left Uta on the island for her own safety. Shanks and his crew took the blame for the destruction of Elegia to keep Uta safe and unaware of what she did, only coming back when the Demon King reappeared.
How is the Tot Musica Stopped?
While it was Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates that stopped the Demon King themselves the first time, the second summoning required them as well as the Straw Hats and various other notable pirates and Marines, including Charlotte Katakuri and Koby. Since the Tot Musica was affecting both the real world and Uta’s world, the entity had to be attacked simultaneously in both dimensions. Through the use of Katakuri, Usopp, and Yasopp’s Observation Haki, the fighters on both sides were able to coordinate their blows, allowing them to stop the Demon King once again.
